THE WHIRLYWEEDER-What is it?
The whirlyweeder is an attachment for gas powered weed eaters & brush cutters. It was developed by a grape farmer, with a bad back who couldn't bend down to weed around grape vines.
Unfortunately most of the attachments on the market are quite dangerous when used next to valuable plants, invariably they end up "ringbarked" by cord or just chopped off by blades.
The whirly started life as a simple 6'' circular plate with 4 offset bolts welded on, after a lot of testing/experimenting it ended up what it is today, a highly efficient well made tool that, correctly used, allows the operator to rapidly weed around valuable plants and shrubs without damaging them.
The WHIRLY'S Construction.
The whirly is not just a cheap piece of pressed metal ! It begins life as a sheet of high quality spring steel (CK 1055) of 1.6mm thickness.
The shape of the WHIRLY is originally done by a precision LASER cutting tool; it is then pressed into it's finished shape by a die.
It is then transferred to the HEAT TREATMENT factory where it is subjected to immense heating/cooling until it is hardened to ROCKWELL 42c (superior mower blade quality) At the same factory it also gets it's black finish.
The WHIRLY'S unique action cuts and shreds plant material (eg.weeds) by blending it in with the surface layer of soil, thus weeding and mulching at the same time.
The smooth turned up edge of the blade wheel and recessed blades protects the base and stems of plants from damage.
