Recreational Gold Mining Photo's
Just More Good Clean Fun
Washington State Gold Claim/Camp Site
This claim in Eastern Washington Blewett Pass area, on Swak Creek has changed hands more times than I have changed my socks in this lifetime. It is still an active claim, but not quite as nice as it use to be. Someone has dug huge holes in the camping area with a backhoe,
(believe it or not it is a organized prospecting club/corporation)
to discourage other miners and weekend campers. Not a good policy in my opinion. After all their has been 3 major gold rushes in this area, they are not likley to make any new major discoveries or hit the motherlode; plus it is only about 100 feet off the Blewett Pass Highway. Although if you do not know exactly where this spot is, you will never see it from the highway.
Just a real nice place for a quick weekend trip; and to take the we ones. No real major setup work involved here. And you might find; some fine gold.UnPacking the Highbanker

Dad Said I could
Is that Gold Dad?
I was probabaly the umpteenth fool to move that big flat rock in the bottom right hand corner of this picture, exspecting to find a nice nugget; no such luck. The rock was big enough I had to move it with the little truck.

A real Rocker Box from the early mining days.
