I loved this movie!  Quentin Tarantino's latest movie recaptures the flavor of the 70's blaxploitation pics like Foxy Brown perfectly though this movie doesn't have the raunchiness (Pam Grier doesn't lose her top once in this movie!) and profanity of the earlier films though you do get to hear a few characters utter that once overused phrase "motherfucker".  Jackie Brown is based on Elmore Leonard's novel "Rum Punch".  Elmore (who also wrote Get Shorty) has a great ear for the cooler than cool dialogue and characterization of life's marginal actors.  He creates a world where his characters' idiosyncrasies lay the groundwork for making their plans go wrong.  This movie is as funny as hell and the absurdities of Leonard's characters are a treat to watch.

    Jackie Brown stars the where-the-hell-has-she-been-and-she-still-looks-pretty-damn-good Pam Grier in the title role.  Jackie is a flight attendant for some third-rate airline that makes runs between L.A. and Cabo San Lucas.  She also picks up and delivers money for small-time gun smuggler Ordell Robie, played by Samuel L. Jackson.   An overeager green ATF agent (Michael Keaton) picks her up in an attempt to use Jackie to catch Ordell.  Ordell has got half a million dollars in a Mexican bank that he needs to get back into the U.S. and even though Jackie has been fingered by the cops, he still needs her to get his money.  Unfortunately for him and everyone else in this money, Jackie Brown is the real brains in this movie and this super-bad chick outsmarts them all, with the help of her bail bondsman Max Cherry (Robert Forster).

    Robert DeNiro is also superb as Ordell's moronic sidekick Louis Gara.  Ordell has also got women troubles as two of his three "bitches" are out to double-cross him.    Bridget Fonda stars as his little surfer girl cokehead girlfriend Melanie, who isn't adverse to trying to get Louis to double-cross Ordell for a little booty and a couple of bowls.  Life ain't getting any easier for  Ordell.

So, Gigi highly recommends Jackie Brown.  Just sit back, motherfucker, and enjoy the ride.
