A-Plus Advantage - Quality Basement Waterproofing
Welcome to A-Plus Advantage's Home Page. We will hope to give you some insight into our Company and the Services that we perform. We will also share with you some valuable information regarding foundations, basements, crawlspaces and what causes them to attract water and moisture. It's true that "Wet Basements Stink", but that musty dank smell is not the water coming into your home, it's the effects of the constant moisture on woodwork, drywall, panelling and carpeting. Once these items start to pick up moisture mold spores take hold causing fungus growth, rotting and decay. Our Specialty is removing the Water from the equation, Drying up the Basement will help remove all these conditions.

SHOULD YOU REPAIR OR IGNORE?
WATER PROBLEMS ARE NATURAL TO THIS AREA.
As everyone knows, rainwater has a “thousand hands”. During a rainstorm or heavy snowmelt.
each one is pushing to gain access to the inside of your basement. Unfortunately, the tar coating
applied to the exterior walls during the original construction biodegrades. Within three to five years
the coating offers little or no protection against the water’s onslaught.
SEEPAGE IS DESTRUCTIVE
Once inside, as countless area homeowners have discovered, this acidic, silty water can ruin your
basement’s contents. Your carpets, floor tile, sheetrock walls, paneling, woodwork and furniture all
succumb to the biodegrading effect of the water. Even electric outlets and power boxes can be
hazardous as water is a conductor of electricity. This acidic ground water can have a PH value of
4.1 and lower. This is roughly equivalent to the PH value of Tomato Juice. This high acidity is one
of the leading causes of structural deterioration and the collapse of the foundation walls.
SHOULD I BE CONCERNED?
Destruction resulting from mold, fungus, mildew, insects and termites is superficial compared to
the potential structural liabilities if your foundation is left untreated. Dampness and actual seepage
are problems which can never fix themselves and will only become worse if left uncorrected.
WHAT CAN HAPPEN IF I IGNORE THE PROBLEM?
The inevitable effect of constant water penetrations is the loss of foundation strength. Mortar joint
cracks, wall buckling, footing washout and the harmful effect of acidity can only deteriorate your
basement’s condition. Once weakened, foundations can cost many thousands of dollars to repair.
INSECT INFILTRATION
The foundation cracks which allow water to penetrate can also permit insect infiltration. Drawn by
the dampness, TERMITES can do extensive damage and often aren’t found until it’s too late.
Remember, a termite only needs an opening of 1/64 of an inch to gain access to your basement.
FUNGUS AND MILDEW
Fungus and mildew can aggravate respiratory ailments and allergies with the gases and spores
which they emit.
WATCHING YOUR HOMES VALUE DECREASE
Your home’s value can drop up to 25 percent with a wet basement. A dry, clean basement is
essential for resale! A-Plus Advantage Waterproofing can put your basement in tip-top condition and
your Warranty is FHA/VA APPROVED .

THE PERMANENT SOLUTION!!
HYDRO-STATIC PRESSURE RELIEF FLOOR SYSTEM: We remove a section of the concrete floor
12 to 14 inches out, parallel and extending the length of the serviced wall area. A drainage system is then
dug below the floor level beside the footer support. The trench is filled with a base of coarse construction
stone, within the construction stone there will be a 4 in. perforated pipe, drain tile, which will be
gradually sloped around the perimeter walls so that captured water will flow towards a Sump Pump
assembly, which will be located at the terminating end of the drain channel.
ADVANTAGE WALL CHANNEL SYSTEM: For a concrete or cinder block foundation, weep holes
are drilled into the first row of blocks as they sit on the footer. Each core and seam of each block will have
a drain hole installed in it to allow stored water to drain into the sub-floor drain system. In order to keep
the drain holes open and clean after the concrete floor has been replaced, we next install a POLYMERIC
DRAIN CHANNEL over these openings. This will ensure constant active drainage, keeping the walls dry.
ADVANTAGE SUMP ASSEMBLY: The terminating end of the drain system will be a hole
approximately 24 inches in diameter and 32 inches deep, we are creating an artificial “low spot”. Within
this hole a clean PVC liner will be installed. The 4 inch drain tile is routed into this canister. At the base
of the canister there will be a 1/3 Horsepower Zoeller Mechanical Pump. This pump is automatically
activated when water or seepage flows into the canister.
Upon completion of the above installation the concrete floor is repoured with fresh, clean Portland cement
and trowelled smooth, ready to accept tiling, or carpet.
SPECIAL DISCOUNT OFFER!!!!
In order to effectively evaluate the condition of the foundation, an on-site inspection is necessary. A lot of information can be given over the telephone but it is all speculation without an actual inspection and assessment of any damage. As a SPECIAL OFFER to promote our service and to test the effectiveness of this Web Page, A-Plus Advantage will offer a PRICE DISCOUNT of >>25%<< on any service contracted through our company. There is a catch though. In order to Qualify for this Special Discount, the Job Must Start within 30 days of the Original Estimate. We think that this is a Fair contingency, it will give the customer the time needed to make a qualified decision to proceed with the repairs, and it provides an incentive to have the Repairs performed Sooner Rather than Later. And after all with the Progressive nature of Foundation and Water Damage and if it's something that MUST BE FIXED!! Doesn't it make sense to do it Now when it will cost the Least?
